Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Crunch Time, Kaiserstraat 9, 2311 GN Leiden, the Netherlands (KvK 78080542) ("we", "us") for the Contender app and this website. By using the app you accept them. If you don't, don't use it.
1. Who can use the app
You must be at least 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher). If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you.
2. Accounts
- You can play casually as a guest. Ranked play and friends need a verified email and a username.
- Keep your sign-in access to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person, one account. Don't create accounts to get around a ban or a limit.
- You can delete your account any time in Settings. See our privacy policy.
3. Playing fair
Ranked play is competitive. Don't cheat or manipulate it. That includes bots, scripts, looking up answers during a ranked round, exploiting bugs, or arranging results with others. Scoring happens on our server and is final. A ranked round that you leave or let expire counts as a loss. We can adjust or remove ratings, rounds or accounts we believe are affected by cheating or bugs.
4. Usernames and conduct
Your username is public. It must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, misleading, someone else's name, or contain personal information. Don't harass other players. We can reset a username, remove friends features or suspend an account that breaks these rules. You can report and block players from their player card.
5. Content and accuracy
Questions and answers are for entertainment. We check them but can't promise every one is correct or current. If you find a mistake, tell us and we'll fix it. The app, its questions, design and code are ours or our licensors'. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app. Don't copy, scrape, resell or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows.
6. Premium subscriptions
- Premium is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and billed by them. Price and period are shown before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Where the law gives you a right of withdrawal, you can use it through them.
- Premium removes some ads and gives extra ranked rounds as described in the app. We may change features and prices; changes to a running subscription follow store rules.
7. Ads
The free version shows ads, including optional rewarded ads for extra ranked rounds. Ads come from third parties; we're not responsible for advertisers' products. See the privacy policy for ad data.
8. Availability and changes
We try to keep the app running but don't promise it'll always be available or error-free. We may change, pause or stop features, and may reset leaderboards or seasons. We'll give reasonable notice of significant changes.
9. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your account whenever you want. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the law, or if we stop running the app.
10. Liability
The app is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or €50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and its courts have jurisdiction, but if you're a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws and courts of the country where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
